My weight has fluctuated a decent amount in my life. I was a chubby kid then lost a lot of that “baby fat” and became very thin. I gained a little and then mostly maintained my weight through being a cheerleader for 8 years. I still was not completely comfortable with my weight and I felt out of shape - I always HATED running with a passion. After getting to college I struggled to get rid of that Freshman 15 or 20 and keep it off, continuing to linger at a higher weight that I was not comfortable with.
Before the summer of 2011 started, I decided I could not keep living my life the way I was - I was getting heavier, not watching what I ate and getting absolutely no activity.
I decided to make a major lifestyle change, not just go on a temporary diet or workout plan. I started my fitness/weight loss journey on June 1st, 2011. After months of hard work and dedication, I finally started feeling better about myself all around. I was more confident, had more energy, was happier, etc. It was the best decision I ever made.
Now I really appreciate running and how it makes me feel, and I’m running more and more every day. I ran the 2012 Boston Marathon on April 16th with a time of 4:29:28, in record temperatures that approached 90 degrees. I hope to do many more marathons and other races in the future! :)
